Dodgers Bolster Their Bullpen with Brock Stewart

The Los Angeles Dodgers, focused on strengthening their right-handed relief corps, have reached an agreement to acquire Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins. The news was confirmed by sources close to the negotiation.

Despite showing interest in some of the most prominent relievers on the market, the Dodgers are looking to add depth to their bullpen. Stewart, who was originally drafted by the Dodgers, offers a valuable reinforcement for a team that leads the league in innings pitched.

The 33-year-old right-handed pitcher, who was in his final year of his contract with the Twins, has had a standout season. His ERA is 2.38 with 41 strikeouts and 11 walks in 34 innings.

Stewart, selected in the sixth round of the 2014 draft, had intermittent appearances in the Major Leagues with the Dodgers between 2016 and 2019. He returned to the team in 2020, increased his velocity, underwent Tommy John surgery, and re-emerged as an effective reliever with the Twins in 2023.

Stewart joins other Twins players who have been transferred, including Harrison Bader, Jhoan Duran, Chris Paddack, and Randy Dobnak. Willi Castro and Griffin Jax are also expected to be traded before the deadline.
