Good news for the Arizona Diamondbacks: Eugenio Suárez did not suffer any fractures in his right index finger, according to medical tests carried out on Tuesday. The third baseman, who was hit by a pitch on Monday, is under observation.
The incident occurred during the 5-1 defeat against the Detroit Tigers. Suárez left the game immediately and was not included in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game.
Despite the scare, Suárez’s season has been outstanding. The 34-year-old player has 87 RBIs, tied with Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners as the league leader in this department.
Furthermore, Suárez has hit 36 home runs and has a batting average of .248.
With a consolidated career in baseball, the two-time All-Star has proven his worth in multiple teams. Suárez has played in the Major Leagues since 2014, wearing the jerseys of the Tigers, the Cincinnati Reds, the Seattle Mariners and, currently, the Diamondbacks.
His eight-year, $79 million contract is about to expire at the end of this season.
Currently, it is rumored that several teams are interested in Suárez ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.
