Jarren Duran Ejected in Red Sox Loss
Boston Red Sox left fielder Jarren Duran was ejected in the eighth inning during the 9-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. The ejection came after arguing an out call at second base that was upheld after a replay review. Duran singled to right field and was put out at second base by a throw from Mike Yastrzemski to shortstop Willy Adames. The Red Sox challenged the call, but it was confirmed.Duran, visibly upset, was ejected by second base umpire Doug Eddings while walking towards the dugout. He then turned around and tried to approach Eddings before being stopped. Red Sox manager Alex Cora also ran out to argue and was ejected. Cora not only yelled at Eddings, but also pointed at the other umpires, saying later that she was offering her criticisms about several decisions she didn’t like during the weekend series, in which Boston only won Friday’s game. Duran said that wasn’t his feeling; he was only frustrated by the single decision.I don’t really have an opinion about it. I saw what I saw, they saw what they saw. At the end of the day, I can’t change it.

Boston was losing 8-5 in the final of the series when he was ejected. Cora did not expect any additional discipline for Duran, even though his first ejection in his career was for arguing a reviewed play. Cora said: “I think he got tossed because he voiced his opinion. It’s going to be me who gets in trouble, pointing out his previous issues in the series. The control swing on Friday, the play at the plate, if I’m going to get tossed, make it worth it.”This game is hard enough, we shouldn’t dwell on one play. We just let it go.
