TAMPA, Fla. – Carson Williams had a dream debut in the Major Leagues, hitting a home run and batting 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a day after being called up by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Williams hit a 410-foot two-run homer to center field in the seventh inning, contributing to the Rays’ 10-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night. In addition, he reached base on an error in the second inning and got an infield single in the third. The Rays called up Williams on Thursday and placed shortstop Ha-Seong Kim on the injured list due to recurring back issues. Williams, 22, was the No. 28 pick in the 2021 amateur draft and was considered one of the best defensive players in the minor leagues.It’s every child’s dream, and it just got even better.
