Los Angeles Dodgers, after a regular season full of expectations, appear in the 2025 World Series as the top favorites to conquer their second consecutive championship. The Dodgers began the regular season as the most outstanding favorites in more than two decades. According to ESPN BET odds, Los Angeles started as the favorite at -210 to win the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, who opened at +175. The series spread was set at Dodgers -1.5 (-115) versus Jays +1.5 (-105). The Blue Jays managed to beat the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game of the American League Championship Series, securing their place in the World Series, the first since 1993. If the Dodgers win the title, they will do so as favorites from start to finish for the second consecutive season. This would make them the first team to achieve this since the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000, according to data from SportsOddsHistory.com.

Despite their low odds throughout the season, and although they had some moments of difficulty, the Dodgers had the support of the betting public. ESPN BET reports that almost a third of all their bets for the World Series, including already settled bets, backed LA. In addition, among the playoff teams, the Dodgers have accumulated 44.4% of the total wagered since the start of the postseason.

BetMGM also had a significant liability with the Los Angeles title. Halvor Egeland, senior operator, commented before the Championship Series that the Dodgers’ victory “would make many bettors happy” and that “the sportsbook will be cheering for the team that comes out of the American League, with the Blue Jays being the best result”. Initially, Toronto was considered a team with little chance in the World Series, with odds of +6000 at the start of the season. Although they attracted attention after a late-season run that made them the first seed in the American League, they only received 7.7% of the total bets on ESPN BET. Game 1 of the World Series will be played on Friday at the Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays, playing at home, opened at +125 on the money line, while the Dodgers are favored as visitors at -150.
