Mookie Betts Out of Dodgers’ Lineup Due to Foot Injury

Los Angeles – Mookie Betts will not be in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup against the New York Yankees due to a left big toe injury.

Manager Dave Roberts reported this Friday that the player underwent X-rays and his status is day-to-day.

Betts stubbed his toe, I’m not sure how exactly,” Roberts said after the Dodgers returned from their trip. “It’s just kind of an accident.”

Roberts added that he felt confident in saying that his status is day-to-day, but that putting on a shoe today was difficult for him. The manager also indicated that Betts was available to pinch-hit in the first game of the series against the Yankees.

Betts’ incident recalled first baseman Freddie Freeman’s slip in the shower in April, which aggravated his surgically repaired right ankle and kept him out of action for nine games.

Just keep moving forward,” Roberts commented, referring to the team’s series of injuries, especially in the pitching staff. “It’s Murphy’s Law, but yes, this is a strange situation.”
