Glasnow and Dodgers bullpen silence Rockies
In a dominant night on the diamond, Tyler Glasnow and the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen combined to limit the Colorado Rockies to a single hit, securing a 3-1 victory on Monday night. Glasnow, in his first start against Colorado, showed his prowess by striking out 11 batters and allowing two walks in 105 pitches, of which 65 were strikes. Blake Treinen had an impeccable performance in the eighth inning, achieving a strikeout, before Tanner Scott allowed a double by Ryan Ritter at the start of the ninth. Scott recovered to close the inning and secure the save. The Rockies took a 1-0 lead thanks to a sacrifice fly by Kyle Farmer that drove in Jordan Beck, who had received a walk at the start of the second inning. The Dodgers tied the score 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth, with a double by Freddie Freeman that drove in a run against reliever Juan Meija.
Glasnow, who was scratched from his last scheduled start on Friday in Baltimore due to back tightness, proved to be in full form. Despite the concerns, the exams revealed no issues. Before this meeting, Glasnow had a 1-3 record with a 3.41 ERA in 14 starts, with 81 strikeouts and 32 walks. His .181 batting average against his opponents led all National League starters, and his 10.62 strikeouts per nine innings placed him sixth. He has had 10 no-decision starts.
It should be noted that Glasnow made a two-inning relief appearance against Colorado on April 16, 2018, when he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
