Glasnow Returns, Díaz Demoted: Dodgers Moves
The return of Tyler Glasnow from the injured list prompted a move on the Los Angeles Dodgers team. The pitcher was activated for the game against the Milwaukee Brewers, which resulted in Alexis Díaz being sent to the minor leagues.
Glasnow, who had been dealing with shoulder inflammation, was set to start the team’s afternoon game, looking to break a five-game losing streak.
This was Glasnow’s first appearance with the Dodgers since April 27. Before being placed on the injured list, the 31-year-old right-hander had a 1-0 record with a 4.50 ERA in five starts.
Díaz, acquired on May 29 in a trade with Cincinnati, has yet to pitch for the Dodgers. The 28-year-old recorded a 0-1 record with a 9.64 ERA, seven walks and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings for Oklahoma City, the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate.
Although he was called up on Tuesday, Díaz did not participate in the 3-1 defeat against Milwaukee.
Alexis Díaz, younger brother of New York Mets closer Edwin Díaz, accumulated 75 saves with the Reds between 2022 and 2024 and was selected for the National League All-Star team in 2023. He started this season on the injured list due to a strain in his left hamstring, and then had a 0-0 record with a 12.00 ERA in six appearances with Cincinnati.
