Dodgers’ Dalton Rushing Exits Game with Injury
In a crucial encounter between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles, catcher Dalton Rushing was forced to leave the game after being hit by a pitch.
The incident occurred in the top of the sixth inning of the game, where Rushing suffered a contusion on his right leg after a pitch.
Rushing was replaced by Alex Call, who in turn was substituted by Ben Rortvedt.
Manager Dave Roberts reported that the X-rays were negative, but a CT scan will be performed to assess the severity of the injury. Rushing was seen using crutches after the game.
He got hit pretty hard. Fortunately, the X-rays were negative. A CT scan will be done tomorrow morning to delve a little deeper. He’s pretty bruised right now. I think until we know more, he obviously won’t be in tomorrow’s game. I guess he’ll be added to the daily list.
Will Smith, also a catcher, will not be available for Saturday’s game due to a contusion on his right hand.
Roberts confirmed that Rortvedt will be the catcher on Saturday and that the team will call up another catcher to reinforce the position.
