Roster Adjustments for the National League Championship Series
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers have made changes to their rosters ahead of the National League Championship Series. Right-hander Nick Mears, who made 63 relief appearances during the regular season, was left off the Milwaukee team.
Instead, the Brewers included right-handed pitcher Tobias Myers, who was not part of the roster in the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs. Game 1 of the series will be played on Monday in Milwaukee.
The Dodgers also made changes to their bullpen. They added right-handed pitcher Ben Casparius and left out Dalton Rushing, who had been one of the three catchers on the Division Series roster.
The Los Angeles bullpen for the series will also include left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski, who was added to the Division Series roster after Tanner Scott underwent surgery to remove an abscess from an infection in his lower body.
Because Scott was removed from the Divisional Series roster during the series, he became ineligible for the National League Championship Series.
Mears had a 5-3 record with a 3.49 ERA for the Brewers during the regular season. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in the Division Series.
Myers had a 1-2 record with a 3.55 ERA for Milwaukee in 22 appearances, including six starts. This followed a rookie season in 2024 in which he went 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA, starting 25 of his 27 appearances. Myers also allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings in the start of Game 3 of the Brewers’ National League Wild Card Series against the New York Mets last season.
The Brewers’ roster for the National League Championship Series also does not include two-time All-Star pitcher Brandon Woodruff, who continues to recover from a right dorsal strain.
Casparius went 7-5 with a 4.64 ERA in 46 appearances this season. He had a 1.42 ERA in 6 1/3 postseason innings last year, including 4 1/3 scoreless innings in the National League Championship Series, to help the Dodgers on their way to the World Series title.
