Dodgers’ Alex Vesia to Injured List with Oblique Strain
Los Angeles – Alex Vesia, one of the most important and most used relievers for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been placed on the injured list due to an oblique strain on Tuesday. Vesia felt tension in his right side while playing in San Diego over the weekend and mentioned that he preferred to “speak now rather than try to force it and risk bigger problems in the future”. The player is expected to return around September 7th, the date on which he would be eligible to play again.Vesia has participated in 59 games this season, the second-most on the Dodgers, with an ERA of 2.75 and a WHIP of 0.99 in 52⅔ innings, where he struck out 69 batters and gave up 18 walks. His inclusion on the injured list comes at a time when the Dodgers’ bullpen is beginning to regain health, with the recent return of Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott, and the return of Michael Kopech is expected in the near future. Vesia, 29, suffered a strain in his right oblique that forced him to leave last year’s National League Championship Series, although he returned for the World Series. This injury, according to Vesia, is “much less” severe.I just felt tension. There was no pull or anything that worried me.
Alex Vesia
I don’t think it should be too long. Obviously, he’s been a key player for us in recent years, so we need to make sure he’s right for the final stretch.
