Eugenio Suárez Hopes to Avoid Serious Injury After Being Hit by Pitch
Arizona Diamondbacks star third baseman Eugenio Suárez is awaiting the results of further tests after being hit on the right index finger by a pitch during Monday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, where the Diamondbacks fell 5-1. Suárez, who is considered a possible candidate to be transferred to a contending team, was hit by a 95.6 mph fastball thrown by Will Vest in the ninth inning. The player immediately collapsed and left the field. So far this season, the 34-year-old player has recorded a batting average of .248 with 36 home runs and 87 RBIs in 104 games, marking the seventh time in the last eight full seasons that he has surpassed 30 home runs. The good news is that the X-rays were negative, but obviously it still hurts. There are more tests scheduled for Tuesday and we’ll see from there. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

Lovullo also expressed that he did not blame the pitcher. He’s very tough and never flinches. When he reacts like that, you know it’s not good.

With a record of 51-56, the Diamondbacks have indicated that they will be sellers at the trade deadline. The Tigers, the team where Suárez began his professional career, are rumored to be interested in the Venezuelan player.I don’t think there was any intention. He’s one of the most impressive hitters in MLB and you don’t want to take that kind of player off the field.
