Experienced reliever David Robertson, known for his outstanding 17-year career in Major League Baseball, has announced his retirement from professional baseball this Friday.Robertson, who accumulated 179 saves throughout his career, defended the colors of eight different teams.
These were Robertson’s words on his social media, where he also expressed his gratitude for every opportunity and memory experienced.The 40-year-old right-handed pitcher had a standout season in 2023 with the Philadelphia team, participating in 20 games and achieving two saves.In his farewell message, Robertson emphasized his gratitude to the sport and to all those who made his career something extraordinary.The announcement marks the end of a successful career that included an All-Star selection in 2011, when he played for the New York Yankees.During his time with the Yankees and the Chicago White Sox, Robertson accumulated at least 34 saves between 2014 and 2016.Robertson was part of 10 teams that reached the postseason, including the Yankees team that won the World Series in 2009.Baseball has given me more than I ever dreamed of in the last 19 seasons.
