Miguel Amaya Exits Game After Ankle Injury
TORONTO – Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya had to leave the field on Wednesday night due to a left ankle injury.
The incident occurred when Amaya, while trying to reach first base, stepped on the base unfortunately during the eighth inning. Her foot bent in a strange way, causing her to fall to the ground, visibly affected by the pain.
The Cubs trainers attended to Amaya and helped him off the field in a cart, covering his face with a towel.
Amaya, 26, had recently returned from the injured list, where she was from May 25 due to a strain in the left oblique. Before this new injury, her batting average was .280, with four home runs and 25 RBIs in 27 games.
Reese McGuire entered the game as a pinch runner for the Cubs.
