In a historic day for the young Cubs center fielder, Pete Crow-Armstrong, 23, reached an unprecedented milestone in his career.

Crow-Armstrong: A Record History

On Friday, Crow-Armstrong hit his 30th home run of the season in the Cubs’ 12-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. With this achievement, he became the first player in franchise history to reach 30 RBIs, 30 stolen bases, and 30 doubles in the same season.

This milestone positions him as the sixth player in Major League Baseball to achieve 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in the current season.

Crow-Armstrong joins Cubs legend Sammy Sosa as the second player on the team to reach 30 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. Sosa achieved this feat in 1993 and 1995. This year, he joins Corbin Carroll (Arizona), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Yankees), Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto (Mets), and José Ramírez (Cleveland) in this exclusive 30-30 club of players. In his third season in the Major Leagues, Crow-Armstrong expressed his satisfaction with this achievement.

I think this means I’ve improved in the last few years. What I’m most proud of is my own development, seeing progression every year I’ve played professional baseball.

Crow-Armstrong’s hit, a high pitch from Miles Mikolas, traveled 396 feet, sending the ball into the right-center field stands. This two-run homer gave the Cubs a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. The outfielder also has 35 stolen bases and 37 doubles. However, this was only his second home run in the last 29 games and the third in his last 55. Despite his excellent defensive performance, Crow-Armstrong has experienced a drop in his batting average in the second half of the season, going from .273 on August 1st to .245.

Crow-Armstrong commented on the contrast in his performance in both halves of the season.

Yes, they have definitely been two different halves. But yes, it’s being able to come home and be honest with myself, analyzing how the second half has been.

The Cubs’ second win in eight games reduced their magic number to one to secure the National League wild card and home-field advantage, outperforming San Diego. Both teams will face each other in the first round next Tuesday. The young player expressed his focus on the playoffs.

At this point, I just want to play playoff baseball. Instead of talking about other things, honestly, I just want to win more games.
