In a historic day for the Chicago Cubs, center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, 23, became the center of attention by reaching an unprecedented milestone.

Crow-Armstrong: A Record-Breaking Player

On Friday, Crow-Armstrong hit his 30th home run of the season in the 12-1 victory against the St. Louis Cardinals. This made him the first player in franchise history to achieve 30 home runs, 30 stolen bases, and 30 doubles in the same season. In addition, he joined a select group of only six players in Major League Baseball who have reached 30 stolen bases and 30 home runs in the season.

This achievement places him in the same category as figures like Sammy Sosa, who accomplished the feat in 1993 and 1995. This season, he shares this honor with Corbin Carroll of Arizona, Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the New York Yankees, Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto of the New York Mets, and José Ramírez of Cleveland.

I think that just means I’ve improved in the last few years. I think what I’m selfishly proud of is my own development, seeing a little bit of progress every year I’ve played professional baseball.

Crow-Armstrong’s hit, a high pitch from Miles Mikolas, traveled 396 feet to the right-center field stands, driving in two runs and giving the Cubs a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. The outfielder, who also has 35 stolen bases and 37 doubles, has experienced a slight drop in his offensive performance in the second half of the season. His batting average, which was .273 on August 1, has fallen to .245.

The Cubs’ victory reduced their magic number to one to secure the first National League wild card and home-field advantage over San Diego.

Whatever the statistics, I just want to play playoff baseball right now.

Crow-Armstrong’s achievement generated excitement, even for a fan who recovered the home run ball in exchange for a personal meeting and memories. This season is full of emotions for the young outfielder, who continues to prove his worth on the field.
