Carlos Correa Exits Game Due to Wrist Discomfort

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa exited Tuesday’s game against the New York Mets in the fifth inning due to left wrist discomfort, the team announced.

Correa, who will undergo an MRI, felt pain after failing a pitch from Mets pitcher Tylor Megill. Immediately afterwards, he was seen shaking his left hand and leaving the batter’s box. After a visit from the trainer, Correa went to the dugout, being replaced by Brooks Lee.

“The wrist is something I’ve been working on since the spring. Just strengthening it, and I felt a pull in the swing, and then, when I hit the foul ball, I felt pain in the area. But they’re going to check it out, they’re going to do an MRI tomorrow. It shouldn’t be anything too serious,” Correa stated.

Correa has been dealing with this wrist problem since last season.

Despite a slow start with a batting average of .164 and only four RBIs, Correa contributed a run-scoring single in the third inning, giving the Twins a 2-1 lead.

In addition, Twins outfielder Matt Wallner will also undergo an MRI after leaving Tuesday’s game due to a left hamstring strain while running to first base.
