Jurrangelo Cijntje and the Stars of Tomorrow: A Talent Show on the Horizon
Seattle Mariners’ ambidextrous pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje has been selected to participate in the All-Star Futures Game, an event that brings together young baseball prospects. The game will take place at Truist Park in Atlanta on July 12th.
Cijntje, 22 years old and from the Netherlands, was the 15th pick in last year’s draft. In his first professional season with the High-A Everett team, he has proven his worth with a 4-4 record and an ERA of 4.88 in 12 starts and three relief appearances. He has struck out 58 batters and conceded 31 walks in 51 2/3 innings.
His versatility is notable: he has limited hitters to a .165 average (26 of 158) with seven home runs when pitching right-handed, and to a .360 average (9 of 25) with two home runs when pitching left-handed.
Along with Cijntje, other selected standouts from the previous draft’s first round will also participate in the event.
- Charlie Condon, Colorado first baseman/outfielder (third)
- JJ Wetherholt, St. Louis shortstop (seventh)
- Konnor Griffin, Pittsburgh shortstop (ninth)
- Braden Montgomery, Chicago White Sox outfielder (12th)
- Carson Benge, New York Mets outfielder (19th)
- Trey Yesavage, Toronto right-handed pitcher (20th)
- Kaelen Culpepper, Minnesota shortstop (21st)
- Slade Caldwell, Arizona outfielder (29th)
In total, there will be 17 players who were selected in the first round.

Max Clark, Detroit’s outfielder, was selected for the second consecutive year.
