Castilians Out of Alignment for “Inappropriate Comment”

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos will not be in the team’s lineup this Tuesday against the Miami Marlins due to an “inappropriate comment” made on Monday, according to manager Rob Thomson.

One of the many things I love about Nick is that he is very emotional. He loves to play, and he loves to play every inning of every game. I just thought he made an inappropriate comment last night after he left, and because of that, he’s not going to play today. And I’ll stick with that.

Rob Thomson, Phillies Manager
Castellanos’ streak of consecutive games will end at 236. The last game he missed with the Phillies was on September 30, 2023. Thomson explained that Castellanos’ comment came after being substituted in the eighth inning of Monday’s game for defensive reasons. Johan Rojas entered in his place, covering center field, while Max Kepler moved from center to take Castellanos’ position in right field. Kepler will also play in right field in Tuesday night’s game.

I wasn’t happy with it, I said what I thought. He said I crossed a line. So, my punishment is that I don’t play.

Nick Castellanos
In his fourth season with the Phillies, after signing a five-year, $100 million contract in 2022, Castellanos is batting .278 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs this season.
