Brendan Donovan Misses Game with Foot Discomfort
The St. Louis Cardinals’ star player, Brendan Donovan, was removed from Friday’s game against the New York Yankees due to left foot discomfort.
Donovan, who was scheduled to bat first and play second base, has been dealing with leg and foot injuries. This since he missed four games after being removed from a game against Toronto on June 10 due to a sprain in the capsule of his left big toe.
The player was also excluded from the St. Louis games on August 10 and 11 against the Cubs due to left groin discomfort.
So far this season, Donovan is batting .279 with nine home runs and 45 RBIs. However, he has batted .234 in 46 games since injuring his toe.
San Luis was already preparing to play with fewer players on Friday, as Willson Contreras remained out of the lineup for the second consecutive game due to a contusion on his right foot. He suffered this injury when he was hit by a pitch from Kyle Freeland of Colorado on Tuesday night.
