Cal Raleigh Continues to Impress with His Power at the Plate

Seattle Mariners star Cal Raleigh continues to demonstrate his power on the diamond. On Sunday night, he hit his 58th home run, leading MLB in this important statistic.

This impressive two-run homer occurred in the second inning of the game against the Houston Astros. Raleigh, who batted from the left side of the plate, hit the ball pitched by Jason Alexander, sending it towards right field and extending his team’s lead.

The home run came right after J.P. Crawford hit a grand slam in the same inning, putting the Mariners up 5-0.

This achievement adds to a historic season for Raleigh, who the day before surpassed Ken Griffey Jr. in the record for home runs in a single season for the franchise, with his number 57 home run.

In addition, Raleigh has surpassed the record of 54 home runs for a switch-hitter set by Mickey Mantle in 1961. He also set a new home run record for a catcher in an MLB season, surpassing Salvador Perez’s 48 in 2021.

Raleigh leads by five home runs over Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers and Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies, who share second place with 53 home runs each.
