Cabrera: After surgery, Yankees third baseman announces return

New York Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera announced that he underwent successful ankle surgery and is focused on his return to the field.

Cabrera shared the news through his social media on Thursday, two days after being placed on the 10-day injured list.

The injury occurred while scoring after a sacrifice fly from Aaron Judge in the ninth inning of Monday’s game, where the Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners 11-5.

My return to the field begins today.

It has not yet been determined whether Cabrera will be able to play again this season.

In Monday’s incident, Cabrera’s left leg got stuck and twisted violently as he slid towards the plate. Despite the pain, he managed to touch the base before being attended to by the trainers.

So far this season, Cabrera, 26, has averaged .243 with one home run and 11 RBIs in 34 games.

In his four seasons with the Yankees, Cabrera has recorded a batting average of .234, with 20 home runs and 95 RBIs in 301 games.
