Byron Buxton Returns to Action with the Twins

The Minnesota Twins have activated center fielder Byron Buxton from the 10-day injured list this Monday. The news comes before the start of a three-game series against the New York Yankees.

Buxton was out of action for 13 games due to inflammation in his left rib cage.

Buxton’s injury occurred just before the Twins made changes to their roster, prior to the trade deadline.

Before entering the injured list, Buxton was batting .282, with 68 runs scored, 23 home runs, 59 RBIs, and an OPS of .905 in 85 games. These figures led the team in several categories among players with a sufficient number of at-bats.

To make room on the roster, the Twins sent outfielder Carson McCusker to Triple-A St. Paul.

In addition to his problem in the chest, Buxton also suffered a concussion that caused him to miss playing time. Despite these setbacks, Buxton has had a relatively healthy season, compared to previous years.

Currently, he is on pace to play the second-most games in his 11-year Major League career, surpassed only by the 140 games he played in 2017.
