MINNEAPOLIS – Byron Buxton, star of the Minnesota Twins, left Wednesday’s game due to a contusion on his left hand. The incident occurred after being hit by a pitch from Chicago Cubs pitcher Cade Horton.

Buxton, who opened the first inning, was hit by the ball, although it was initially marked as a foul. After a video review requested by Minnesota, the decision was reversed, confirming that the ball hit the top of Buxton’s hand.

After being attended to by the medical team, Buxton remained in the game and scored a run thanks to a hit by Ryan Jeffers. However, Brooks Lee entered as a pinch hitter for Buxton in the second inning.

Buxton, who was selected for his second All-Star Game and also for the Home Run Derby, has had an outstanding season. At 31 years old, he has hit 20 home runs in 75 games, ranking among the top six in the American League.

Injuries have been a constant in Buxton’s career. Since his debut with the Twins in 2015, he has only participated in more than 100 games on two occasions.
