Byron Buxton Hits a 479-Foot Blast and Shows Off His Power

In an emotional night at Target Field, Byron Buxton, center fielder for the Minnesota Twins, shone with a home run that left everyone speechless. The hit, which traveled a distance of 479 feet, was the second longest of the season in Major League Baseball. The home run, a three-run hit, occurred in the third inning of the game against the Texas Rangers, propelling the Twins to a 6-2 victory. Buxton hit the ball against the Rangers’ starting pitcher, Jack Leiter, sending it to the second level of center field. This was the longest home run in Buxton’s career, totaling 144.

“That was a home run. I’m not going to lie, I knew that ball was going far,” Buxton declared.

The longest home run of the season so far belongs to Mike Trout, who hit a 484-foot shot for the Los Angeles Angels on April 19. With this impressive home run, Buxton moved up to 15th on the Twins’ all-time home run list, breaking the tie with Hall of Famer Joe Mauer. This was the fifth-longest home run in Target Field history since its inauguration in 2010, according to information provided by the Twins. Buxton’s performance was not limited to batting. In the top of the inning, he made a spectacular catch in center field, robbing Marcus Semien of a hit and receiving a standing ovation from the fans.

“We saw things from our center fielder that we probably won’t forget,” Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. “Congratulations to everyone who was at the stadium tonight to witness what he did. One of the most fascinating performances ever seen on a field.”

Since his return from the injured list due to a concussion, Buxton has shown great performance in 10 games, with a batting average of .350, 14 RBIs, and three stolen bases. His 11 home runs position him as the team leader.
