MINNEAPOLIS – Byron Buxton hit the second-longest home run of the season in Major League Baseball, a three-run shot that traveled 479 feet for the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers.

Buxton hit a home run against Rangers starting pitcher Jack Leiter in the third inning, with the ball landing in the second level of center field. This was the longest home run of the 144 that Buxton has hit in his career.

The longest hit of the season belongs to Mike Trout, with 484 feet for the Los Angeles Angels on April 19.
