DENVER – Colorado Rockies designated hitter Kris Bryant will undergo a procedure on his back on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Bryant is currently on the injured list due to degenerative lumbar disc disease, which involves the deterioration of the spinal discs that act as shock absorbers between the vertebrae. This is his ninth stint on the injured list since 2022 due to a series of health problems.
The procedure Bryant will undergo is known as ablation, and it is designed to interrupt the pain signals sent from the back to the brain.
According to what the doctors feel, it should help alleviate some discomfort. You should be back in a day or two to resume your activities.

Bryant, 33, is batting .154 this season, with no home runs, one RBI, and 13 strikeouts.
Since signing a contract for $182 million and seven years before the 2022 season, Bryant has played only 170 games with the Rockies. His injuries have included plantar fasciitis, a bone bruise in his foot, heel problems, a fractured finger, a back strain, a bruised lower rib, and back problems.
With the Rockies, he has batted .244 with 17 home runs and 61 RBIs. Bryant was the National League MVP in 2016, when he helped the Chicago Cubs end a 108-year World Series drought.
