MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned right-handed pitcher Elvin Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville this Thursday.
This decision comes one day after Rodríguez allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief, in the 9-1 loss to the Houston Astros.
Rodríguez, 27, is 0-2 with an 8.68 ERA in six appearances for Milwaukee this season. In 18 2/3 innings, he has allowed seven home runs.
Even though ten other National League pitchers have also allowed at least seven home runs this season, all the others have pitched at least 28 innings.
In addition, the Brewers announced this Thursday that right-handed pitcher Aaron Civale has been sent to Nashville for a rehabilitation assignment, while he recovers from a left hamstring strain.
Civale has been on the injured list since his only appearance of the season, in the 12-3 loss to the New York Yankees on March 30.
