Milwaukee Braves Shake Up Their Roster: Megill to the Injured List and Fedde Bolsters the Mound
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have made significant moves to their roster, impacting their pitching staff. All-Star closer Trevor Megill has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right flexor strain in his arm.
In response to this low, the Brewers have signed right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde, who joins his third organization so far this season.
Megill, 31, has a 5-3 record with an ERA of 2.54 and has recorded 30 saves in 44 appearances, striking out 58 batters in 46 innings. In his last four save opportunities, he has failed in three.
Fedde, for his part, was activated in time to be available for the Brewers’ home game against Arizona. The signing was finalized three days after being released by the Atlanta Braves.
The 32-year-old pitcher posted a 1-2 record with an ERA of 8.10 in five games with Atlanta, after a stint with the St. Louis Cardinals where he went 3-10 with a 5.22 ERA in 20 starts, who designated him for assignment last month.
The Brewers are in the midst of a demanding 18-day schedule, with 19 games, so they need healthy arms to cover innings.
Additionally, the Brewers also transferred right-handed pitcher Logan Henderson to the 60-day injured list.
