Brandon Woodruff and the Milwaukee Brewers: Victory, Record, and Free Burgers

In a crucial encounter, pitcher Brandon Woodruff faced additional pressure on the mound. On Wednesday afternoon, the Milwaukee Brewers faced the Pittsburgh Pirates, and victory not only meant maintaining Woodruff’s perfect record, but also extending the team’s winning streak to 12 games. Furthermore, free hamburgers for the entire city of Milwaukee were at stake!

I was nervous. There was a little more at stake today. I wanted to win those burgers at all costs. Who doesn’t want a free burger?

The Brewers achieved a resounding victory over the Pirates with a score of 12-5, thus extending their winning streak to 12 games.

The George Webb restaurant chain had promised free burgers if the local baseball team achieved 12 consecutive victories. This promotion has been in place for decades, since the times when Milwaukee was home to the minor league Brewers in the old American Association.

In 1987, the Brewers started the season with 13 consecutive victories, and over 170,000 hamburgers were given away to celebrate the occasion.

The Brewers achieved this feat for the second time in 2018, culminating the regular season with eight wins and four playoff victories. Milwaukee has been close to achieving it on several occasions since then, including an 11-game winning streak earlier this season.

George Webb will announce the details of the burger delivery on Thursday afternoon.
