Milwaukee Brewers: MLB Dominance and Historical Record

Before Tuesday night’s 7-2 victory over Atlanta, Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy suggested that “most people couldn’t name five players on our team.” However, the situation in the standings indicates that more fans will soon recognize the Brewers’ players. It’s hard to overlook a team that not only extends its lead in the National League Central Division but also boasts the best record in Major League Baseball.

“What we are doing right here, right now is special,” said right-handed pitcher Freddy Peralta after allowing only four hits and one run in five innings, setting a personal record with his 13th victory.

Peralta was surprised to learn that he had set a personal record for wins in a season.

“It’s always good to get the victory as a team, but also personally for me, it’s something important,” Peralta stated.

Murphy highlighted that Peralta, who was selected for this year’s National League All-Star team, “is just getting started… This is the best Freddy that has existed. I thought he was really, really good.” The Brewers lead the Chicago Cubs by four games in the National League Central, following the Cubs’ 5-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. The Brewers have accumulated a five-game winning streak. They have won six consecutive road games and have a 44-16 record in their last 60 games overall. It’s the best 60-game stretch in team history.

“We really have to be disciplined right now, more than ever,” Murphy said after the Brewers (69-44) surpassed .500 by 25 games, their best record of the season.

Milwaukee’s success away from home has been a crucial part of their rise to first place. The team’s 33-24 road record gives the Brewers the best winning percentage (.579) away from home in baseball. This record includes the win in the first two games of the three-game series in Atlanta.

“You can’t assume everything is going to go the way we want,” Murphy said, adding that he recognized the Brewers were lucky to avoid more runs on Tuesday night, when the Braves left 14 runners on base, tying their highest total in the last two seasons.

The Brewers have also made key moves this year, including the transfer of first baseman Andrew Vaughn on June 13. Vaughn has an 11-game hitting streak, matching his personal record, after a two-run single on Tuesday night. He is batting .429 with four home runs and 14 RBIs during his hitting streak. He has hit .370 since joining the Brewers. Murphy highlighted that his players “are hungry” and “never try to play it safe”. Regarding the lack of national recognition, Murphy simply smiled. “That’s the fun part,” he commented.
