Braves Secure Joel Payamps for One Season

The Atlanta Braves have reached an agreement with right-handed pitcher Joel Payamps for a one-year contract of $2.25 million. This decision reinforces the team’s bullpen with a veteran member. Payamps, who arrived at the Braves after being claimed from the Milwaukee Brewers, had a limited performance at the end of the season. In 2 2/3 innings with Atlanta, he allowed one run and closed the season with an overall ERA of 6.84 in 30 games. Throughout his seven seasons in the Major Leagues, Payamps has maintained an ERA of 3.41 and has achieved 10 saves. His best performance was in 2024, when he earned six saves with the Brewers. This agreement represents the Braves’ second move in less than a week to keep an experienced right-handed reliever. Previously, the team announced the renewal of closer Raisel Iglesias for a one-year, $16 million contract. The offseason has begun with activity for the Braves. The team also acquired Mauricio Dubón from the Houston Astros, in exchange for Nick Allen.
