Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer were key on offense, each driving in a run for the Blue Jays. The pitching work was impeccable, with eight Toronto pitchers controlling the Yankees’ offense.
Nathan Lukes contributed with a two-run single and Addison Barger connected on three of Toronto’s twelve total hits. The Blue Jays, known for their persistence, responded strongly after losing a five-run lead in the previous game.
Toronto, champion of the American League East Division, won the divisional series 3-1 and will host Game 1 of the Championship Series, which will be played on Sunday. Their rival will be the winner of the series between the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners, whose fifth game will be played on Friday in Seattle.
