Hunter Bigge is Removed from the Field After Ball Impact

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Hunter Bigge was removed from the field in a concerning scene on Thursday night, after being hit by a foul ball in the dugout. The incident occurred in the top of the seventh inning, when Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman deflected a pitch towards the Rays dugout, hitting Bigge. Emergency medical personnel quickly attended to Bigge. After several minutes of silence, while the Rays players knelt on the field, Bigge was placed on a stretcher and removed. Bigge, who is on the 15-day injured list due to a back strain, gave a thumbs-up as the Steinbrenner Field crowd rose to its feet for an ovation. The game resumed after an eight-minute interruption, with Baltimore leading 4-1.
