Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has expressed his optimism about his participation in the upcoming World Series, marking the team’s return to this instance since 1993.

Bichette, 27, hasn’t played since suffering a knee injury during a collision at the plate against the New York Yankees on September 6th.

“It’s a dream for me to play in these games,” Bichette declared during the team’s celebration in the clubhouse after the 4-3 victory over the Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night. “This group is very easy to support… They played incredible.”

Before Game 7, Blue Jays manager John Schneider reported that Bichette had shown “significant progress” in his rehabilitation.

In the regular season, Bichette hit .311, tied for second in the American League, with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and an OPS of .840 in 139 games. Despite this, he was the worst-performing defensive shortstop in the Major Leagues according to outs above average and defensive runs saved metrics.

The Toronto Blue Jays will host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series this Friday.
