DUNEDIN, Fla. – Toronto Blue Jays pitcher José Berríos will undergo a specialized evaluation due to inflammation in his right elbow.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told the press that the right-hander will meet with Dr. Keith Meister on Tuesday. Berríos will not throw before this appointment.
This elbow problem prevented Berríos from participating with Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
In the past season, Berrios, 31, recorded a 9-5 record with an ERA of 4.17 in 31 appearances with the Blue Jays. He finished the season on the injured list and was unable to participate in the postseason, during which the Blue Jays advanced in the World Series.
