Harrison Bader Could Return for Game 2 of the Divisional Series

Gardener Harrison Bader could be on the field for Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Monday, according to Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson. Bader left the first game of the series on Saturday due to a groin injury. However, imaging tests revealed that there is no significant tear or strain.

“I think after the game they stretched him out, got him moving a little bit,” Thomson said, a day after his team lost Game 1. “I think he felt a lot better after that”.

The team will evaluate Bader on Monday to determine if he can start or, at least, be used as a pinch hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bader made an outstanding defensive play in the first game, diving to catch a hit by Andy Pages in the fifth inning. In addition, he hit a sacrifice fly. After the game, the player revealed that he felt tension in his groin while running the bases.

“This is the point in the season where you just empty the tank,” Bader said after the game.

In the event that Bader is unable to play in Game 2, Nick Castellanos is expected to return to the starting lineup in right field, with Brandon Marsh in center field and Max Kepler in left field.
