Lawrence Butler, Athletics Outfielder, Undergoes Surgery
Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler underwent surgery on his right patellar tendon on Friday. The main goal of the operation is to ensure his participation in spring training next year.
The procedure, announced as successful by the Athletics, was performed by Dr. Mike Banffy at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Center in Los Angeles. The surgery included the repair of a partial tendon tear and the removal of scar tissue. In addition, Butler received a platelet-rich plasma injection in the left patellar tendon due to tendinitis.
In the current season, Butler recorded a batting average of .234, hitting 21 home runs, driving in 63 runs, and stealing 22 bases.
At 25 years old, Butler was nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award for his work off the field.
The Athletics signed Butler in March to a seven-year contract for $65.5 million, solidifying him as a key piece in their project for the move to Las Vegas in 2028.
The stadium’s inauguration ceremony, with a capacity for 33,000 fans and a cost of 2 billion dollars, took place on June 23, and vertical construction began in early September.
