Astros Secure Nate Pearson with One-Year Contract

The Houston Astros have begun to make moves in the offseason, securing the services of right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson with a one-year contract worth $1.35 million, according to sources close to the team.

Pearson, 29, split his time last season with the Cubs organization, participating in 11 Major League games. In those games, he allowed 15 runs in 14⅔ innings.

After spending most of the year in Triple-A, where he recorded an ERA of 2.22 in 38 games, he was released in September. Pearson, known for his powerful arm, has yet to consolidate his role in the majors.

In July 2024, the player who was selected in the first round of the 2017 draft by the Blue Jays was traded to the Cubs, participating in 19 games in the second half of the season.

In general, Pearson has a 9-6 record with a 5.17 ERA in 123 career games, including six as a starter.
