Los Angeles Angels Lose Chris Taylor to Hand Fracture

The Los Angeles Angels have placed Chris Taylor on the 10-day injured list due to a fracture in his left hand. This injury occurred on Tuesday, after Taylor was hit by a pitch the day before. The incident occurred in the eighth inning of the game against the Athletics on Monday, when a 95 mph pitch from Tyler Ferguson hit Taylor. Despite finishing the game in right field, X-rays revealed a fracture that, according to manager Ron Washington, will keep the 34-year-old veteran out of action indefinitely.

He’s had bad luck and it keeps happening. The only thing he can do now is recover. But in baseball, things like that happen, and the next player has to step up.

Taylor, who was released by the Dodgers on May 18, batted .200 (6 for 30) with a home run, three doubles and three RBIs in 10 games with the Angels. However, he seemed to be improving at the plate, with four hits, including a home run and two doubles, and three RBIs in two weekend games against the Seattle Mariners. Taylor’s position on the active roster was filled by utility player LaMonte Wade Jr., a veteran acquired from the San Francisco Giants on Sunday in exchange for a player to be determined or cash. Wade, 31, batted .167 (24-for-144) with one home run, eight doubles and 15 RBIs in 50 games with the Giants this season. Although he has extensive experience at first base in the Major Leagues, Washington indicated that Wade will primarily play in the outfield for the Angels.
