Altuve Raises Concerns in Houston After Victory Against Braves

ATLANTA – The Houston Astros experienced a moment of concern during their Saturday night victory against the Atlanta Braves, with a final score of 6-2. The situation involved nine-time All-Star, José Altuve, who had to be removed from the game due to discomfort in his right foot. The incident occurred after Altuve hit a single to right field in the third inning. Subsequently, he was put out at second base after a ground ball by Jesús Sánchez.

“He came in and said ‘My foot is hurting’,” Astros manager Joe Espada commented. “As a precaution, I decided to take him out of the game”.

Although Altuve remained on the bench for the rest of the game, he was evaluated by the team doctor after the game and was not available for comment.

“We want to monitor the situation and see how it evolves tomorrow,” added Espada.

The importance of Altuve to the Astros is undeniable, especially considering that the team is tied with Seattle for first place in the American League West Division.

So far, Altuve has a batting average of .264 and leads the Astros with 25 home runs. Throughout his career, he has shown remarkable resilience, excelling in 144 games played and 552 at-bats. In addition, he has driven in 70 runs, ranking second on the team in this aspect.

In his fifteenth season with Houston, Altuve has accumulated 2,378 career hits, surpassed only by Hall of Famer Craig Biggio’s 3,060 in the franchise’s records. Earlier this season, Altuve had surpassed another Hall of Famer, Jeff Bagwell, securing second place on the team’s all-time hits list.
