Ronald Acuña Jr. Activated by the Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves have officially activated Ronald Acuña Jr. from the injured list, preparing for the first game of the series against the San Diego Padres.
The outfielder, previously recognized as MVP, returns to action after almost a year of absence in the Major Leagues. Acuña Jr. suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee on May 26, 2024.
Before his return, Acuña Jr. participated in five rehabilitation games with the Triple-A Gwinnett team. During this period, he demonstrated his ability by batting .417 (5 of 12) with a home run, two doubles, and one RBI.
Right-handed pitcher Nick Pivetta will be in charge of starting Friday’s game for the Padres. In his career, Acuña Jr. has a batting average of .233 against Pivetta, with no home runs and nine strikeouts.
Acuña Jr., who has been selected to the All-Star Game four times, was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2018 and the Most Valuable Player in 2023.
In his career with the Braves, Acuña Jr. has maintained a batting average of .289/.379/.525 in 722 games, accumulating 165 home runs, 417 RBIs, and 196 stolen bases.
To make room on the 26-player roster, the Braves designated infielder Orlando Arcia for assignment. Arcia, 30, is batting .194 with one RBI in 14 games this season.
