Arpichaya Yubol leads the Shanghai tournament with a flawless round

SHANGHAI – Thai golfer Arpichaya Yubol positioned herself at the top of the LPGA tournament in Shanghai after an impressive first round. Yubol completed the course with a score of 64 strokes, eight under par, without committing any bogeys. Yubol’s outstanding performance included four birdies in both the first nine holes and the second nine, demonstrating his skill and consistency on the course. Minjee Lee, winner of the Women’s PGA Championship in June, is one stroke behind the leader along with four other golfers.

All of them achieved a score of 65 strokes.

“I feel like, given the conditions of the greens, I managed to make, what?, seven birdies, so it was a good day for me,” commented Lee.

Ashleigh Buhai, champion of the 2022 Women’s British Open, finished with 68 strokes, while the current champion, Ruoning Yin, recorded 71. The event in Shanghai marks the beginning of a series of five tournaments in Asia, including two weeks in South Korea and stops in Malaysia and Japan. Last week, Youmin Hwang continued the streak of different winners in each of the 25 official LPGA Tour tournaments this year.
