Valimaki Takes the Lead at the RSM Classic
Finnish golfer Sami Valimaki leads the RSM Classic after an impressive round where he achieved four consecutive birdies. With a total of 5 under par and a score of 65, Valimaki is in a privileged position for the final round of this PGA Tour season event. Competition at Sea Island is crucial, as many players seek to secure their full card for next year on the PGA Tour. In addition, this edition presents the opportunity for several golfers to earn their first title on the circuit. Valimaki has a total of 19 under par, with a two-stroke lead over Michael Thorbjornsen and Patrick Rodgers, who share second place with a score of 68 each. Both players are Stanford graduates.In third position, three strokes behind the leader, is Zac Blair, who needs a victory to have a chance of finishing in the top 100 in the FedEx Cup. Other prominent competitors include Andrew Novak and Johnny Keefer, who are also still in the running. Valimaki started his outstanding performance with a birdie on the 6th hole, followed by a great performance on holes 7, 8 and 9. The golfer has achieved two runner-up finishes in his career, both in Mexico. Séamus Power and Lee Hodges are in seventh position, with options to improve their ranking.
