Szokol and Lee Lead the ShopRite LPGA Classic
Elizabeth Szokol and Ilhee Lee share the lead in the first round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, after a day full of birdies and excellent performance. Szokol, with an impressive initial streak, achieved birdies on the first five holes and finished with a score of 62 strokes, eight under par. His performance included additional birdies on holes 8, 9, 13, and 16.The 30-year-old American golfer already knows what it’s like to win a tournament, having triumphed at the 2023 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational alongside Cheyenne Knight.I’m happy to have had a great start and I’m looking forward to the weekend. There’s still a lot of golf to play. I’m very excited to see that today’s good golf and hard work are paying off.

For her part, Ilhee Lee also shone, with a round that included consecutive birdies on three occasions, and a single bogey. The 36-year-old South Korean golfer is seeking her second title on the circuit.
Akie Iwai from Japan placed third with a round of 65 strokes. Wei-Ling Hsu, Aline Krauter, Ayaka Furue, Polly Mack, Saki Baba, Dewi Weber, and Gurleen Kaur also had outstanding performances. The current champion, Linnea Strom, recorded a score of 72 strokes.I have no expectations. I just play golf. I go out, have fun. That’s all I do.
