Stacy Lewis Announces LPGA Retirement at Season’s End

American golfer Stacy Lewis, a two-time major champion and former world number one, has announced that the current season will be her last on the LPGA Tour. The 40-year-old athlete announced her decision through an extensive post on social media, where she expressed that “my body has told me it’s time”.

“Never in a million years would I have thought this golf-playing journey would continue in 2025, but the time has come to put away the clubs,” Lewis wrote.

Lewis’s achievements in the golf field are numerous. She joined the LPGA Tour in 2009 after a distinguished career at the University of Arkansas, and achieved 13 victories. Among these, the titles at the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship and the 2013 Women’s British Open, both majors, stand out. Lewis was twice LPGA Tour Player of the Year (2012, ’14) and ranks 14th on the all-time money list, with more than $14 million earned in 374 events played. In addition, she was part of four Solheim Cup teams as a player, and then captained the group that defeated Europe last September.

“I have nurtured the LPGA Tour as if it were my own child and I am very proud of the progress we have made, but to my fellow players, we are not finished!”, she wrote. “I hope you all continue to push the tour and do everything you can to help on and off the course!”
