Neal Shipley Etches His Name in TGL History with an Epic Hole-in-One
Golfer Neal Shipley has made history in the TGL, the innovative golf league powered by technology. On Monday night, Shipley, 25, achieved the first hole-in-one in the league’s second season. The climax came at hole number 5, known as “Set In Stone”. This par 3, with a distance of 110 yards, was the shortest in TGL history. Shipley executed a masterful shot with his wedge, sending the ball to the green that protruded from the mountainside. The ball retreated and sank into the hole, unleashing euphoria. Shipley’s reaction at the SoFi Center was memorable. He threw his club in the air, jumped repeatedly, and was quickly embraced by his Bay Golf Club teammates, Luke Clanton and Min Woo Lee, as the crowd celebrated enthusiastically.Shipley, who was debuting in the TGL in the match against the Los Angeles Golf Club, revealed that Clanton predicted the hole-in-one before he took his position on the tee. The open microphone on the course captured Clanton saying: “Hey, it’s your turn. Give me a hole-in-one here. Please.” The former Ohio State star, who made the cut as an amateur at the 2024 Masters and U.S. Open, is in his first season on the PGA Tour. In four events played, he has made one cut. This is unlike any hole-in-one I’ve had before. It’s incredible. Very cool.
