Schmid and Griffin lead Colonial; Fowler rallies, Scheffler far behind

At the Charles Schwab Challenge, Ben Griffin and Matti Schmid lead the competition after an outstanding second round. Griffin, with an impressive card of 63 strokes, tied with Schmid at the top of the leaderboard, both with a cumulative score of 11 under par.

Rickie Fowler, for his part, seeks to resurge in the tournament, showing signs of improvement with a round of 64 strokes. John Pak, a promising rookie, and Chris Gotterup, also remain in the fight.

Featured Performances on the Field

Griffin, with eight birdies in his round, demonstrates solid and consistent play. Scottie Scheffler, despite not being at the top, managed to make the cut.

Fowler, for his part, seeks to regain his best form, showing flashes of his game. Schmid, with a bogey-free game, also remains in contention.

I feel like I’ve taken good steps in the last few years, building towards that first win. Now that I have that first win, I feel like it’s really freeing me up to go out there and not necessarily be more aggressive, but feel more aggressive, feel like I’m trying to win more. It’s definitely been a breakthrough year, but I think there’s more to come.

Jordan Spieth, although with some ups and downs, managed to make the cut and continues in the competition.
