Scottie Scheffler Changes Caddie Due to Family Emergency
Memphis, Tenn. – Scottie Scheffler, the current world number one, faced the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship with an unexpected change in his team. Ted Scott, his usual caddie, had to be absent due to a family emergency in Louisiana. Scheffler, who began the final round two strokes off the lead, had the help of Brad Payne, chaplain of several PGA Tour players and president of College Golf Fellowship. Payne is a close friend of Scheffler and has taken on this role in the past. This is not the first time Payne has caddied for Scheffler. At the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla, Payne did it for the graduation of Scott’s daughter. That day, Scheffler had a less favorable performance, attributing it to the adrenaline of an unusual incident.
The PGA Tour did not disclose the details that led Scott to withdraw from Memphis.
