Scottie Scheffler Confirms His Participation in the 2026 American Express Championship
The world’s number one, Scottie Scheffler, will make his debut at the 2026 American Express Championship later this month in La Quinta, California, according to tournament organizers on Wednesday night.
Although Scheffler has yet to achieve a victory at the AmEx, he has a third-place finish in 2020 and two top-20 results. He did not participate last year due to hand surgery.
The tournament, which will be held from January 22 to 25, will be the second of the season on the PGA Tour, after the Sony Open in Hawaii next week. The usual inaugural event, The Sentry, was canceled in October due to course conditions in Kapalua, affected by water scarcity.
Several prominent names have already signed up for the AmEx, including Akshay Bhatia, Rickie Fowler, defending champion Sepp Straka, and rising star Luke Clanton.
In addition, Scheffler has also confirmed his participation in the WM Phoenix Open, which will be held from February 5 to 8, as announced by the organizers on Wednesday night. There, Scheffler achieved victories in 2022 and 2023, the first of which was his first triumph on the PGA Tour.
Scheffler arrives after another exceptional season, with six victories in 20 appearances, including the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. He achieved 17 top-10 finishes and remained among the top 25 in each of his appearances.
